Energy efficiency

The Nordics naturally cool climate allows for 'free cooling' during a large part of the year.

Sustainable operations
Our operations in the Nordics have taught us the benefits of renewable energy sources, the use of climate for passive cooling and techniques for increasing energy efficiency. Our data centres are powered entirely by renewable energy sources such as hydropower and wind power.

Air-to-Air innovative cooling systems
Our new data centers use Air-to-Air evaporative cooling, which capitalises on the cool, moist atmospheric conditions of the Nordics to deliver extremely efficient cooling. This technology employs low ambient air temperatures for computer hall cooling, rather than energy-consuming refrigeration plant.  This enables energy savings of up to 25% compared to industry average, without loss of quality.

Power Usage Effectiveness
Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) is a metric for appraising the effective use of electrical power in a data centre. By implementing evaporative cooling on a large scale, we can deliver PUE levels as low as 1.1-1.2 in all our new data centres.

Concert control
DigiPlex’s innovative concert control solution is the intelligence behind some of the most energy efficient data centres operating anywhere in the world.

Concert control uses a groundbreaking algorithm to optimise the performance of DigiPlex’s already energy-efficient evaporative cooling system. This pioneering solution accurately controls the provision of data hall cooling based on electrical power consumed by the data servers.
