Critical Environment Future Thinking Award 2016
DigiPlex, the leading Nordic data centre company, won the “Critical Environment Future Thinking Award” at the annual EMEA DCD (Datacenter Dynamics) Awards. The award recognises the innovation and thinking that is shaping the next generation of cutting edge data centre solutions. It was awarded for DigiPlex’s Concert Control system, a proprietary control algorithm instrumental in delivering industry-leading power usage effectiveness (PUE) at DigiPlex’s Stockholm and Fetsund data centres.
Gisle M. Eckhoff, CEO at DigiPlex said, “Energy efficiency is a critical differentiator in this industry, both for environmental reasons and also to keep costs down for customers. We are extremely proud that our Concert Control system is recognised as the next innovative step in this field. It will provide customers with an additional 10% in energy savings, on top of the savings delivered by using our already award winning Air-to-Air solution.”
DigiPlex was also a finalist in the “Sustainable Data Center” award category for it’s Fetsund data centre near Oslo, Norway. The 10MW zero carbon emissions data centre was purpose built for EVRY and designed to benefit from the naturally cool Nordic climate. The Fetsund data centre was constructed from locally sourced materials by a local contractor to benefit the local economy. This centre also achieved an industry-first in terms of financial sustainability: it was funded by a public bond – the first time such an investment model has been applied to the data centre industry.
Gisle M. Eckhoff concluded, “These recognitions serve as proof that the Nordic region has the skills, cutting edge innovation and climate to create extremely efficient and sustainable data centres. The political aspirations and willingness to create a world leading operating environment for data centres in the Nordic countries further fuels an already strong business case – global companies should put the Nordic region at the top of their list of data centre locations.”
