DigiPlex data centres are equipped to house the new generation of water cooled super computers including the IBM ‘Hydro-Cluster’ range. Heat is transported away from the high power processors by passing cooling water over heat sink copper plates mounted close to and above the processor chips. Dedicated N+N chilled water services are piped direct to the underfloor area of the data halls ready for connection to the server’s in-built heat exchangers and secondary cooling circuits. In anticipation of the development of this technology, in which cooling water will pass directly over the chip, the cooling water circuits are engineered to utilise the resultant high temperature water to benefit other areas of the development.
