Inviting experts from 13 external companies plus the senior staff from your industry’s key professional organisation to inspect your facility is not everyone’s idea of a good time. But the visit of the EMEA Site Uptime Network to the DigiPlex Ulven centre in June proved a success.

The Uptime Institute is the world’s premier organisation for companies and professionals in the data centre industry. It plays a leading role in education, consulting, certifications, conferences and research.

Visitors to the DigiPlex Oslo site enjoyed a series of presentations from Geoff Fox, Head of Engineering at DigiPlex; Ken Brill, Founder of the Uptime Institute; Pitt Turner, Executive Director at the Uptime Institute; and Martin Bradley, Executive Director Technology at Morgan Stanley, amongst others. The visit also included tours of the facility, followed by discussions of current and emerging issues and challenges in the industry.

In a letter of appreciation sent to DigiPlex Head of Operations Dan Oldham following the visit, Ken Brill said: “The whole event was very well-run indeed and all your team members did you and DigiPlex proud.”

Brill also noted that EMEA Network members participating in the visit praised DigiPlex for ‘great capital utilisation’, ‘continuous improvement of design’ and ‘good management of different sized spaces’. Post-visit evaluations saw the site rated an impressive 3.4 out of a possible 4, with every one of the 21 participants scoring it in one of the top two categories.
