Shareholders and Financial Structure

Digiplex is strengthened by its investor base.     Drawing on its major shareholders’ breadth of knowledge of the European property and ICT markets, and its sound capital base, DigiPlex is well-positioned to offer its customers unparalleled security.

As majority shareholder, William Conway is co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of The Carlyle Group (www.carlyle.com), the Washington-based, global alternative asset manager with more than $107bn under management.  He is former Chairman of NextTel Corp and CFO of MCI Corp.    Mr Conway brings to DigiPlex a wealth of experience not only in property, but also in the communications, information technology and data centre sectors.    Mr Conway has been a lead investor in DigiPlex since its inception in 2002.

DigiPlex Chairman and co-founder, Byrne Murphy, is owner and Managing Partner of Kitebrook Partners, a Washington-based real estate development & investment company with projects across Europe.     Mr Murphy has over 20 years experience as a pioneer of American business concepts in Europe, including the start-up of McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Centres in Paris in 1992, DigiPlex  European Data Centres in 2000 and, most recently, Private Residence Clubs in Florence in 2008.  Mr Murphy has taken a leading role in DigiPlex management since its inception in 2002.

Critical to DigiPlex’s success has been a conservative financial model for its Data Centre portfolio.   The company’s standard approach is to provide all equity capital for each Data Centre acquisition, phase one fit-out and development.   As the business grows a stable customer base and an assured revenue stream, the capital structure is balanced with the introduction of bank capital (Handelsbanken, Pareto Bank and Barclays Bank) to assist with the long-term sustainability of operations.

Equity engagement and reward are also an integral part of senior employee remuneration, aligning their commitment with the long-term success of the business.

The DigiPlex vision is to run the most reliable Data Centres in Europe: efficient, technologically- advanced and secure. DigiPlex shareholders and management are committed to working as a team to provide continuity and reliability of service in meeting our customers’ exacting requirements.
